EPA’s Renovation, Repair, and Painting,
Final Rule, 40 CFR 745:

This important new regulation requires that renovations conducted for compensation must be performed by Certified firms using Certified Renovators. Renovation firms that wish to work in pre-1978 homes and child-occupied facilities must apply to the EPA and pay a fee in order to become certified and must have successfully complete the EPA accredited renovator course.

Certified Renovators are responsible for documenting the training of their workers. EPA requires that certification be in place by April 22, 2010.

The 8-hour class, exam, and certification, can be completed in one day, at a convenient Hyannis location. Lunch is included.

This course was developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Devel-opment (HUD) to train Renovation, Repair, and Painting contractors on how to work safely in housing with lead-based paint and comply with EPA’s Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Rule, and HUD’s Lead Safe Housing Rule.
